West Virginia University is also launching an online CS4HS Workshop for high school teachers July 19-August 17.  See item #2 below.

All the best,
Stacy

Online 2014 Google CS4HS Workshop hosted by West

Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech)

July 19 – August 17, 2014

Online

West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is proudly launching a Google

Computer Science for High School (CS4HS) Workshop in the summer of 2014. The workshop

will be delivered entirely online from July 19 to August 17, 2014. The primary focus is to

provide fundamental knowledge and skills of computing to high school teachers. The 2014

Google CS4HS Workshop is free and open to high school teachers in the United States and

Canada who are interested in professional development in the discipline of computing. By

participating in this online workshop, educators will get the opportunity to:

• receive free training in a user-friendly environment with 24/7 technical support;

• gain fundamental knowledge of computer science through online lectures, discussion

sessions and live labs in Google Hangout through one or both of two tracks: software

and hardware;

• discover state-of-the-art computing technologies through collegiate-level instruction

from terminal degree faculty with extensive teaching and computing experience;

• receive tools and resources to better prepare high school students for college majors

related to computers/computing;

• learn content aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Computer

Science Teachers Association (CSTA) standards; and

• gain professional development hours.

Some educators will be selected for post-workshop activities where they will apply CS4HS

knowledge in their respective classrooms. These selected participants could be eligible for a

$150 stipend upon submitting a final report.
