DECEMBER 2, 2015

Dear Pre-College Engineering Education (PCEE) Division Members,

I’d like to take a moment in this newsletter to let you know that members on our Executive

Committee, Awards Committee, and various subcommittees have been working hard to care for and

grow our vibrant division. In addition to preparing for the 2016 Annual Conference in New Orleans,

we’ve proposed Sunday Pre-Conference Workshops and are now accepting proposals for the 13th

Annual K12 Teacher Workshop. Our Awards Committee is working to recognize the efforts of

members who have made exceptional contributions to ASEE and to engineering education at large.

Our Branding Committee is finding ways to help get the word out about who we are as a division, and

what we uniquely provide within the engineering education community. The Diversity Committee

helps us maintain a focus on diversity that was energized by last year’s Year of Action on Diversity. We

should all be thankful for the value that our member volunteers add to our division and ultimately to

the quality of engineering education for teachers and students.

Also, many of our members have served by participating in Engineering Days at regional National

Science Teachers Association (NSTA) meetings. The most recent one was held Friday, November 13th

at the Philadelphia NSTA regional meeting, and there is an upcoming Engineering Day at the Kansas

City NSTA regional later this week. Engineering Day sessions:

Are designed to help teachers understand the new ETS Engineering Design portion of the Next

Generation Science Standards (NGSS);

Address elementary through high school engineering education; and

Are presented by ASEE members and engineering educators from organizations such as NASA,

Teachengineering.org, Engineering is Elementary, and Colleges of Engineering across the nation.

For details about the Engineering Day Sessions at the Philadelphia Conference, click here and do a

keyword search for “ASEE Session.” Engineering Day presenters at this conference described teacher

participants as energized, and often spending time beyond the formal session end time to ask

questions. A big “Thank you!” to those who have presented and will present at these Engineering

Days this year!

There is one new position announcement in what follows, as well as two announcements I’m

reposting from previous newsletters.

Feel free to send information for me to share in an upcoming newsletter. Please keep it as succinct as

possible.

Take care,

Pam
