Dear ASEE K12 and Precollege Engineering Division Members,
Happy April Fools Day! Be aware of your friends, family, and colleagues today for that great practical joke! That said, I promise this newsletter won’t contain any jokes.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that one of our own – Liz Parry from NCSU – is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring , the White House announced. Parry was one of 14 people and one organization named by the White House as the newest recipients of the award, which recognizes those who help the development of students studying science and engineering, “particularly those who belong to groups that are underrepresented in these fields,” the White House said in a press release. Parry and the others named will receive awards of $10,000 and will be honored later this year at a White House ceremony, according to the press release.

Are you a junior faculty member, recently tenured faculty member or research staff person who is primarily evaluated on their engineering education research? The PEER Collaborative is a small but growing community of people in a similar situation who peer mentor each other in engineering education research matters. The 2015 PEER Collaborative National Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday (evening) & Thursday, June 17-18, 2015, immediately following the ASEE Annual Conference in Seattle, WA. More information and registration at http://peer-collaborative.org.
