Dear ASEE K12 and Precollege Engineering Division Members,

For those of you who made it to the ASEE conference in Seattle, I sincerely hope that you found it to be a professionally enriching and personally enjoyable experience. Thanks especially to Merredith Portsmore for leading the Conference Program Team, as well as to team members Sharlene Yang and Nancy Ruzycki. We had our practice-minded K12 Workshop day on Saturday, followed by two Sunday Workshop sessions, and, on Monday through Wednesday: 20 technical/paper sessions; a poster session, our (early) business meeting; our shared reception with MIND and WIED divisions; the Curriculum Exchange; and an exceptional lecture by Dr. Karl Reid, Executive Director of the National Society of Black Engineers. Two newer types of sessions that many would like to see repeated in future conferences included a panel of five of our colleagues talking about frontier topics in engineering education, and one session to gather the three Best Papers for the division. If you have any reflections or suggestions to share about the conference, please feel free to email those to me, and I’ll pass them along to our 2015-2016 Program Committee.

To those who were not present, we hope to see you next year in New Orleans! That conference will be June 26 – 29, with the K12 Workshop for teachers on Saturday, June 25.

Announcements: Here are the only two announcements in this issue (underlined titles are links to go to relevant websites):

• UT Austin’s Engineer Your World program seeks Senior Instructional Support Specialist – Do you have a passion for project-based engineering instruction? Would you like to help support a national network of 120+ high school educators who are implementing an innovative engineering curriculum?
• FIRST seeks manager to oversee Inclusion and Diversity Program – Their goal is to greatly expand the participation of diverse students in our programs.  They are open to remote candidates nationwide.

A final note: I wish to thank Stacy Klein-Gardner for her service and dedication to this division as Chair for the last two years. We are lucky to have her continued involvement in ASEE and in the division as Immediate Past Chair.
